Ari's Platform Issues

"Um...I think eating at Old McDonald's Farm is kinda like smoking cigarettes. If you do it too much it's really bad for you." -Ari

This statement was shocking to me. Not that she called McDonald's 'Old McDonald's Farm' or had something to say about cigarettes. She always does. It was that fact that within this thought, she allowed for smoking ANY cigarettes at all. You see, smoking is what we like to call one of Ari's Platform Issues. On a normal day, she fervently speaks out against it. And smoking is not alone. If you're caught riding your bike without a helmet or leaving your medicine out on the counter you will be equally chastised. With zealous conviction, Ari scans the world around her carseat platform as we drive through the streets of her fair city. One might hear her impassioned cries of "Bad decision!" "Uh-oh, that guy's smoking! He's gonna die," and "If he falls off his bike his head's gonna break!" If you intend to stand anywhere near her path while smoking, brace yourself for quite an earful. I've stopped apologizing in these circumstances. She speaks the truth and somehow gets away with it quite nicely. On the home front, it is Daddy who is often confronted by the zealous little crusader if he should ever leave his Airborne out on the counter... the threat of losing his Seinfeld DVDs always looming as she folds her arms and stomps that little foot. Watch out Poverty, Oppression, and Injustice... her arsenal of passion only seems to be building and you could be next.
